What symptoms do I look for in a patient suspected of suffering from Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA)?

The most common patient symptoms are:

  • Snoring
  • Witnessed apneas
  • Nocturnal gasping/choking
  • Day time lethargy/sleepiness
Is OSA linked to car accidents?

Yes, a person with OSA is 7 times more likely to have a car accident.

Is OSA linked to obesity?

Yes, obese patients are far more likely to suffer from OSA, especially those with neck sizes 43 cm or greater.

Where do I send patients for testing?

Doctors can refer directly to ResSleep Clinics for a Medicare rebated home sleep test. All test results are prepared and reported by a qualified local Sleep Physician, and are sent back to referring doctor within 2 weeks after the test is undertaken.

Where do I send patients once they have been tested?

Send them to the nearest ResSleep clinic to talk to a Dentist about Oral Device options or a Therapist for a CPAP/APAP treatment trial.
